- My first speedrun in MHGU/MHXX was sub4 Furious Rajang with Striker Lance, so this is oddly nostalgic.
I don't know if this is the correct playstyle, but it's funny.

As an SnS main, I’ve always thought about giving the lance a try. This wasn’t a fight, it was a God damn execution. Well done!

Tried Lance after maining Swaxe in MHW. It's really refreshing somehow, just tanking almost every incoming attack instead of dodging.
You just have the ability to make lance run looks mesmerizing and fun, great job as always Zebra! that Monke can't even put a dent in your health!
This was one of the coolest runs I've seen since Sunbreak released (and I watch a lot of speedruns). When I saw you delay at 1:52, I realised you were on another level. Awesome work.
God this is super cool, great job. I love the multiple instablocks into the anchor rage on his spinny charge attack. Love watching Lance runs without spiral thrust
Well done! Lance is so fun in sunbreak! The levels of elemental damage and the increased window on insta-block have helped a ton without even talking about the new moves.
I picked up the lance because this is how I want to play: glued to the monster, constantly attacking, counter, repeat. It's so simple to describe but much more difficult to execute. Great job!

Agreed! Finally picked up lance in MHR with Sunbreak after vibing mostly with LBG and Bow since they helped me get a feel for how the monsters move (first monster hunter game). Lance learning was still pretty rough at first, but I'm having a blast with it now, and whenever I'm off of it I wish I was back lol
@@Jitszu Lance is my crutch whenever i am having trouble clearing a hunt (and has been a for a few MH iterations). It never fails to deliver ^^

I barely comment on yt and never wanted to try lance on any MH series before. But your run totally mesmerized me bro. Everything was damn smooth and so perfect. The dodge and guard at 2:27 and double guard at 3:30 made me a goosebumps. Thank you for sharing such an awesome work!

The masterful understanding of your weapon, the monster's attacks, timings/button inputs. My deep dive into Rise/Sunbreak is gonna be hundreds of hours and dozens of builds.
I just got back into Rise on PC after initially playing it on Switch. Just bought Sunbreak once I got far enough again too. I feel you about the deep dive. I want to play every weapon lol.

First off, excellent damn play. Secondly, you play with the same style and switch skills I do which makes me very happy(and i assume its for the precision of it). The anxiety I felt knowing you were gonna let that health drain to 1 was unreal. All that combined and that was the most glued to a speedrun I've ever been. Big kudos/subbed/my hero. Thanks for making a fellow lancer really proud.
Love it. Great run. Your stamina usage/conservation is impressive here. My eyes were glued to the stamina bar for a while there towards the end.

It's so refreshing to see lance being played without Spiral Thrust spamming. This is what Lance should have been like since base Rise. Out of curiosity, why are you mostly using the multi-hitting poke from the back hop instead of a charged sweep whenever Rajang is flailing on the ground? Does the multi-hitting poke do more DPS overall?
It does good elemental damage, and I was having difficulty hitting his head instead of arms with the sweep at times so I decided to use mostly Leaping Thrust (or regular pokes if I needed to restore stamina).
(It also conserves sharpness as all three hits count as 1 sharpness knock.)
Likely to hit weak spot. And leap poke got buffed a lot.3 poke uses only 1 sharpness, also dose 3 times damage compared to regular poke. Which used to consume 3 sharpness and did 1 regular poke damage before buff

What an incredible run! I have to ask, what are your thoughts on Furious Rajang compared to regular Rajang in Sunbreak?
I really dislike regular Rajang. It has no breaks or recovery between its attacks so you spend the entire time just avoiding attacks with no real chance to get any satisfying payoff.

Unrelated to the run, but do the 3 hits from Leaping Thrust each count separately toward bonuses of the type "after 5 hits" like Chain Crit or the Daora rampage deco?
Each hit of Leaping Thrust counts individually towards both, so it's very easy to have good Chain Crit uptime if using Guard Dash.
@@ZebraQuake Great run. May I ask how are you doing back step straight into leaping thrust? I have to shield tackle before being able to leaping thrust. If you could explain that would be extremely helpful.

i'm picking up lance elemental atm and was wondering what to use for my ice weapon, does it math out that the Zamite lance edges past Lunargaron even without purple? not going for a speedrun build but just curious for a general use elemental build
they could explain how he makes that jump-back movement and fast 3-stroke stoke, that movement is made but I don't do it so fast... Please
Lance and Greatsword runs against Rajang are the two times that I actually feel bad for that bastard XD
Amazing and nerve-wracking run! Been struggling to play Parry Lance against all these multihitting moves monsters have, so watching several of your videos has been incredibly motivating :)
Something I'm curious about though is why you didn't run Dango Adrenaline if you were planning to stay at 1hp without Storge Helm. Does Lv1 Adrenaline just not provide a sufficient buff after sacrificing it to boost the other dango? I figure anything is better than Defender lmao
I'm playing according to the TA wiki rules, which forbids the use of Heroics/Adrenaline (due to how ridiculously powerful it is).
The time could be significantly faster with it, but it also wouldn't be representative of "normal" gameplay taken to its limits (people don't play with Heroics outside of speedruns).
@@ZebraQuake Ahhh, fair enough! I guess you could probably also find value in Dango Fighter instead or something, if you spend a lot of stamina repositioning with steps and guard dashes. Thanks for the clarification!
Any tips for nailing the timing on the counter thrust? I can never seem to get that right in any hunts and instead just use offensive guard.

How do you go straight into jumping thrust right after a back step? I can only seem to do it after doing a shield tackle.
U can guard dash backwards. It's different to sheidl tackle.
Really cool run. I'm curious tho how element bane is compared to (monster) exploit.
I tested it and the overall gain from Fanged Exploit was a bit better than Element Bane here (Anchor Rage/Cross Sweep gained more from exploit, while leaping thrust improved very slightly from bane).

im an lance noob and just picked it up.i dont know how to execute leaping thrust like that. is that from a certain switch skill
I wonder which would be better. Guard Advance which covers more distance and has Leaping Thrust but uses stamina or Shield Tackle which uses no stamina but keeps up the offense.
Depends on the matchup in this case Guard Dash is more reliable and effective since you need to chase Furious Rajang alot..
I have to ask because i’m curious about it but I noticed when you sharpened you used a whetfish and not a whetstone, is using the whetstone not allowed in the rules or is there some advantage to using the whetfish over it?

What is that jump attack you keep using? I've never seen that before.
freaking phenominal! I loved the lance till its attack speed and back step got slowed after MH tri.
Are Guard and Guard Up useful for you? I haven't seen them in your builds, and I thought you needed them to block certain attacks without getting knocked back too hard.
Guard Up wouldn't be that helpful here because the chip damage would kill me anyway due to Dereliction. As for Guard, there are definitely times where you need higher levels of it to help with Guard Dash/Spiral Thrust even in a speedrun, but I chose to rely on Insta-block for those moves entirely instead this time.
In a non-speedrun setting, I would use at least Guard 3 and Guard Up for comfort.
